Sripen Tantivess, PhD.

Sripen Tantivess is a pharmacist by first degree,and have a PhD from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. Before joining IHPP in 1999, she had worked in the health sector as technical officer and program manager for almost 20 years. During this period, she was involved in marketing approval of pharmaceutical products, national drug policy formulation, and drug selection to the National Essential Drug List. Her current research focuses on the development and implementation of public policies. She is interested in employing different qualitative approaches to analyze the role and power of key stakeholders, influence of contextual factors, as well as the processes through which particular policies and interventions are pursued. Her publication covers range of topics such as Thailand’s drug system; generic substitution and its implication on hospital expenditure; health system responsiveness; health regulations; and HIV/AIDS and antiretroviral treatment initiative.
