Project Summary

This study aims to review the application of alcohol policies and to assess roles of key players including the Thai Health promotion Foundation in reducing alcohol consumption between 1997 and 2007 in Thailand. The appropriateness of selected alcohol policies in terms of the content, enforcement and monitoring and evaluation was evaluated. A number of alcohol-related policies were implemented during the past decade; however, the rate of alcohol consumption between 1997 and 2007 did not change. It is recommended that enforcement, monitoring and evaluation of the alcohol policies should be substantially emphasized. In addition, the roles of the different players should be clearly identified.
