Although the burden on mortality, morbidity and economic cost of road traffic accidents are enormous,
there is no screening policy for motorists’ physical readiness. The study aims to identify the costeffectiveness
of individual screening interventions through literature review and policy synthesis. The
results supported the effectiveness of the visual acuity screening in drivers aged 60 and above, the revision
of the health-issue list for those applying for a driving license, a breath test, the sobriety checkpoint
and alcohol ignition interlock. More studies are needed for color blindness screening and traffic-accident
prevention for teenagers and motorcyclists.
